While there is one basic rule to always remember about the way to hang a picture, many of us did not get the memo on it. So, here it is. A photo, painting, or other form of wall art should be hung at eye level. Pretty simple indeed, but that does not stop folks from hanging too high or too low. Maybe it is because people are compensating for guests, or other house dwellers who are of a different height. Do not get caught up in these technicalities. Do this in compliance with your view.
Another good tidbit of information regarding hanging stuff is to place a picture only 3 to 5 inches above the back of a couch. Any lower, and you run the risk of people hitting the piece when they sit back. Conversely, hang it higher and then the empty wall space will be what grabs the eye, instead of the beautiful art.
